Complex translation projects bring many challenges, from coordination to the consistent use of specialised terminology and adherence to schedules. Our system solutions are designed to efficiently address these challenges and maximise user satisfaction:

  • We offer the specially developed REST API API4client™ to connect your system to our customer portal portal4client™. This allows us to create an interface for fast, error-free and uncomplicated text import and export as well as all relevant project parameters.
  • If your PIM or CMS needs to be integrated, we can develop a custom plug-in to allow direct connection of your systems to our API interface.
  • By connecting our webshop4client™ to your shopping environment, you can order language services directly. The order data is automatically transferred to your order system.

API4client™: the convenient and quick way to your translation

Complex translation projects often require significant time and resources from all parties involved: the files must be delivered to the vendor in an erroneous and systematic manner. In order to do away with this often laborious and time-consuming process, KERN UK Ltd. offers its own independently developed REST API (API4client™), which makes the following possible:

  • Direct connection of your CMS or PIM system to our portal solution portal4client™
  • Standardised file transfer and processing
  • Flexible and optimised management of large translation orders

Customised solutions – tailored to your needs

Our translation engineers will accompany the development of a middleware or plug-in to connect your system to the API. This eliminates the need to manually import and export individual documents, which results in significant time savings. The direct connection of the REST API to portal4client™ makes it possible to exchange files and transfer all relevant project parameters to KERN UK Ltd. In this way, the created projects can be automated from the customer system. The processing of a job in the API is status-based. This leads to process security and is used in the API for the status-dependent provision of functions. Once the quality assurance of the translation has been completed and the translation finalised, the finished translation can be retrieved completely automatically from the client system via the REST API.

Depending on the system that is to be connected and its expansion options (e.g. by means of SDK) it is possible to create a plug-in with which basic information about the translation process can be transferred. This includes, for example, project creation triggered in the customer’s system, specifying the desired target languages, or real-time transmission of the translation status, cost estimates or overviews of existing projects.

The connection between API4client™ and the customer’s system can, however, also be made without a plug-in. Instead, the middleware controls when new projects are created and which target languages they are translated into. For any other requirements for the translation process, it is possible to adapt the functions of API4client™ to your needs at any point.

What is a REST API?

A REST API (Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interface) is a type of web service interface that is based on the REST architecture style. It allows different software applications to interact via the HTTP protocol.

What is a plug-in?

A plug-in is a software component or extension that is integrated into an existing software or application to provide additional functions or features. Plug-ins allow developers to extend a software's functionality without having to modify the core application itself.

What is a middleware?

Middleware is software that acts as a "middle layer" between different applications or systems. It enables communication, integration and data processing between these components, supports security features, and contributes to system scalability and flexibility.

Through using portal4client™, we guarantee seamless and flexible collaboration that fulfils any requirements our customers may have. With its extensive workflow component, integrated translation memory and terminology databases as well as process automation and file processing options, the portal solutions is the optimal basis for efficient translation management. API4client™ ensures direct communication between the client system and portal4client™, enabling an automated exchange of information.

Quickly import and export your texts with plug-ins

We will support you in developing a plug-in with a connection to the API interface for content management systems (CMS) or product information management (PIM) systems

The plug-in then transfers the content directly from your CMS or PIM via our API interface to our system. As soon as the text has been translated and proofread, it is fed back into the CMS/PIM via the API.

Simplified: By using this plug-in, the content is transferred much faster without having to export or import texts manually. This also avoids the classic sources of error that can result from copying and pasting. In addition, time and money are saved.

The well-known online shop software enables management of several e-shops with different domains and languages.

TYPO3

The CMS enables intuitive management of website content, including multilingual back-end and front-end.

WordPress

The CMS enables blog entries to be created and managed easily. It can be expanded upon to include language export via plug-ins, for example.

The CMS is used to organise websites and it enables various extensions of interfaces.

The CMS serves to create websites and offers a variety of functions, such as language internationalisation.

Adobe Xperience Manager

The combination of CMS and Digital Asset Management allows you to update content easily.

The integration of our connector to the CMS allows multilingual content to be transferred automatically!

One of the things that the automation software offers is solutions for content creation. Our connector means the translations can be managed efficiently!

Magnolia

With our connector for the CMS, content is automatically transferred into our system and automatically fed into Magnolia after it has been translated.

Contentserv

The PIM solution enables optimised content to be delivered quickly and product data to be imported automatically.

Censhare

The CMS Censhare enables content and processes to be managed easily. The connector allows translation jobs to be completed automatically.

Efficient procurement process with webshop4client™

The KERN webshop webshop4client™ offers the possibility to place translation jobs in an intuitive shop environment. Once analysed and priced, these jobs can be handed over to your OCI or cXML-enabled systems with all relevant information. In addition to the interface function, a standard ordering process is also possible in the webshop. This allows you to order your shopping cart directly in the shop without switching to the customer's own ordering system.

System connections to webshop4client™

By connecting webshop4client™ to your shop environment, language services can be ordered directly and order information is transmitted automatically to your ordering system. As a result of this, the entire ordering process is significantly simplified. This also guarantees a more efficient workflow: The shopping cart is filled with translation jobs and can be ordered with a single click. The relevant data (content of the shopping cart, cost centre, price) are then transmitted via either OCI or cXML punchout to your ordering system , which, if required, creates an order after processing and approval, meaning the translation can be commissioned immediately. Further processing of the project takes place in portal4client™ in a workflow-driven manner. You receive a notification as soon as the target files are available and can be downloaded. This significantly increases the overall speed and efficiency of order processing.
